I had an interesting devotion tonight and it came from the devotional “Our Daily Bread”, interesting is that it was about our New Year’s resolution and how we often break it after a few weeks… Then the message was laid out as a question, If you were to face God, what will he ask for you to change or improve?
And the devotional gave out 5 passages from scripture to check our hearts with…
Gal. 5:22,23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self–control. Against such things there is no law.
Matt. 5:44 – But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
Mark 16:15 – He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Heb. 13:5 – Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
2John 6 – And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
I have found these verses struck me as things that I need to change and improve (the ones in bold and italicized letters)…
I believe 2010 is a time for greater change! And I believe we can all improve… as 2Cor. 5:17 says
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
and Phil. 4:13 says
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
JUST REMEMBER. IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS. WE CAN’T CHANGE BY OURSELVES. WE NEED HIS GRACE AND WISDOM.
Happy New Year everyone! ^_^
